Tour of the Alps earns the international limelight

With two months to go, the new-born event following the steps of Giro del Trentino shows off on Friday in Hochfilzen (Austria) at the Biathlon World Championships. Special Guests Moser and Totschnig

With two months to the debut in Kufstein, on April 17th, the new Tour of the AlpsGiro del Trentino’s rightful heir – starts getting used to the international atmosphere it is naturally destined to, considering its cross-border nature and global vision.

Looking ahead to 2018 Cycling World Championships in Innsbruck, the new stage-race involving three amazing territories such as Trentino, Südtirol and Tirol, will be in the spotlights next Friday in Austria’s Hochfilzen, during the Biathlon World Championships taking place in Pillerseetal Tirol’s valley for the third time, the previous ones being in 1978 and 2015.

Considering biathlon’s resounding popularity all over Northern Europe, Tour of the Alps seizes a perfect opportunity to promote itself during a press conference on Friday, February 17th, 11:00 am at the TirolBerg, a special facility where to meet media, sport and tourism personalities, political authorities.

Tirol Werbung Director Josef Margreiter will be the host to introduce the new five-stage race finishing next April 21st in Trento. Two former top riders, Italian Francesco Moser and Austrian Georg Totschnig (stage winner at 2005 Tour de France) will be the presentation’s special guests alongside Giacomo Santini, President of G.S. Alto Garda, the organizing company of Giro del Trentino and, now, of the Tour of the Alps, to unveil the 18-team line-up of the race.
