Neumarkt/Egna

Neumarkt/Egna

Since 2014, Neumarkt/Egna has held the title of one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy." It was an important river port in South Tyrol, where wood was primarily processed to make rafts for transport on the Adige River. The city's patron saint and protector from floods is St. Nicholas (to whom a Romanesque-style church was dedicated in the 12th century). The local culinary tradition is closely associated with Pinot Noir. It was the European Town of Sport in 2020.
