The novelties of the 2024 Tour of the Alps keep on coming: just days before the eagerly awaited start from Neumarkt/Egna, the Euroregional stage race through Tirol, Südtirol/Alto Adige, and Trentino (April 15-19) announces the debut of a new special jersey, branded by an important new partner making its first introduction in the world of cycling events.
The bravest rider of the Tour of the Alps, the one who will have covered the most kilometres in breakaways during the stage race, will be rewarded every day with the new Ochre Jersey by Subito, Italy's leading online platform for buying and selling second-hand items.
The Italian platform, born in 2007 with over 2.5 million active users every day, has joined the Tour of the Alps family as a Premium Sponsor.
"Subito is a platform beloved by sports cycling enthusiasts. In 2023, the bicycle category was visited by over 5 million people, who bought or sold not only bikes but also spare parts, apparel, and technical equipment. That's why we are pleased to be alongside the cycling community, not only every day through our platform but also on the road at prestigious events like the Tour of the Alps.", said Wally Mascheroni, Chief Marketing Officer of Subito.
Another significant initiative is related to Subito and the leaders’ jerseys, all crafted by Alé Cycling. At the end of each stage, five autographed jerseys will be donated by the Tour of the Alps to the Michele Scarponi Foundation, for the latter to put them on sale on Subito. The proceeds will therefore support the cause of the foundation named after the late Italian champion, promoting road safety education projects, and developing a culture of respect on the road.
A few days before his untimely passing, Michele Scarponi raised his arms to the sky for the last time at the Tour of the Alps. Over the years, the Tour of the Alps has maintained its commitment to remembering his figure and promoting the cause of road safety, actively collaborating with the Michele Scarponi Foundation to develop charitable and awareness initiatives.
"We are delighted to kick off this collaboration with an important partner like Subito, that shows how the Tour of the Alps, also thanks to the collaboration with Infront, is collecting more and more interest even beyond the cycling world. We are also particularly pleased with an initiative involving the Michele Scarponi Foundation and its mission, as important and sensible as ever," said Giacomo Santini, President of GS Alto Garda.
