"Ride&Dunk": #TOTA and Aquila Basket Trento team up to promote sustainable mobility

On Sunday, March 30, Tour of the Alps, Aquila Basket and Trentino Marketing, in collaboration with FCI Trentino, present an initiative combining basketball and cycling. The headline game of LBA Serie A between Trento and Brescia will become a true “bike day”, featuring a social ride, fan zone, and activities dedicated to sports and cycling

Tour of the Alps has always championed the idea that cycling is more than just a sport. A bike race can tell a story far beyond the final standings—it reflects values, choices, and a way of life. When organizations that share this vision come together, the result is events that engage, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.

After debuting the "Bike Day" format in 2024—bringing over 250 cyclists to Bozen/Bolzano’s Druso Stadium for an FC Südtirol Serie B football match—Tour of the Alps returns with a fresh collaboration. This time, it’s with Aquila Basket Trento, a Serie A basketball club and recent Italian Cup winner.

With just three weeks to go until the 48th edition of #TotA (April 21–25, across the Euregio Tirol–Südtirol/Alto Adige–Trentino), Ride&Dunk takes center stage. The initiative will coincide with the headline game of the 24th LBA Serie A round, featuring Aquila Basket Trento vs. Germani Brescia—two teams currently tied for second place in the overall standings —at the “Il T Quotidiano Arena”.

Cycling enthusiasts will set off on a social ride from Aquila Basket's headquarters in Trento’s Le Albere district to the arena, ahead of the 18:15 tipoff.

The day kicks off at 14:30 in Via Adalberto Libera in Trento, with the group ride departing at 15:00. Open to all, the route follows a dedicated bike path leading directly to the venue. Upon arrival, cyclists can safely park their bikes in racks specially installed for the occasion.

Awaiting them will be a fan zone powered by Visit Trentino—a vibrant area featuring food & beverage stands, live entertainment by Radio Viva FM (official radio partner of #TotA), and plenty of family-friendly activities themed around cycling and more. Thanks to FCI Trentino and local police support, children will enjoy a cycling gymkhana and hands-on road safety workshops. The game itself will also feature appearances from Tour of the Alps ambassadors and cycling personalities.

Ride&Dunk is open to everyone. No game ticket is required to join the social ride or take part in the outdoor activities.

"Aquila Basket is a role model—not only in sport, but in ethical management and community engagement,” says Maurizio Evangelista, General Manager of the Tour of the Alps. “Basketball has grown to become a flagship sport in Trento thanks to their commitment to responsible leadership, which has led them to two championship finals and this year’s Italian Cup victory. But more importantly, it’s their ongoing social mission—being present and active in meaningful moments of city life—that makes them a perfect partner for us. We share the same values, and it’s a pleasure to collaborate alongside Trentino Marketing and the Trentino Cycling Federation.”

Ride together, cheer together, grow together. Ride&Dunk is more than an initiative—it’s a statement. Sport and values, performance and purpose, can travel the same path, making cities more livable and passions more shared. Whether on the court or in the saddle, the future moves forward.
