#TotA 2025: Where cycling and community ride together

The side events program for the 2025 Tour of the Alps kicks off on Sunday, April 20 in San Lorenzo Dorsino with the official Team Presentation at the Municipal Theatre. This charming Trentino village will set the stage for a week filled with thrilling climbs and spectacular cycling—accompanied by a packed lineup of activities designed to engage audiences of all ages, whether on-site or following from home. On Tuesday, April 22 in Mezzolombardo, #TotA will pay tribute to Sara Piffer

Just five days remain until the start of the 2025 Tour of the Alps. The cross-border cycling event, organized by GS Alto Garda, will hold its 48th edition from April 21 to 25—a week that promises powerful stories and emotional moments. Showcasing the stunning roads of the Euregio Tirol–Südtirol/Alto Adige–Trentino, the Tour of the Alps once again aims to captivate not only passionate fans, but also the communities along the route and the global audience watching live in over 100 countries.

The Tour of the Alps serves as a cultural bridge and a symbol of unity—an ever more significant message in today’s world. At its core, the event, like cycling itself, is made to be shared: among people, within communities, and across borders. Every stage becomes a celebration of sport as a means of connection.

On Sunday, April 20, San Lorenzo Dorsino will come alive with music, local flavors, and entertainment, courtesy of Radio Viva FM, the official #TotA radio partner. The day will culminate in the Teams Presentation at 5 PM at the Municipal Theatre, followed by a special event: the presentation of the book "Vicini alle Nuvole" featuring Eurosport Italy commentators Luca Gregorio, Moreno Moser, and Riccardo Magrini (joining remotely).

Stage one on Monday, April 21, will renew the bond between the Tour of the Alps and Aquila Basket Trento, already celebrated during the “Ride&Dunk” event at Il T Quotidiano Arena. This time, the Italian Serie A basketball team returns the favor, taking part with its players and offering kids a chance to test their skills on the court with Aquila coaches. Meanwhile, cycling lovers in San Lorenzo Dorsino can enjoy a group ride with former pro Daniel Oss, while younger riders take part in the “Children’s Sprint.

On Tuesday, April 22, Mezzolombardo will host a solemn and meaningful moment. The Tour of the Alps will honor the memory of Sara Piffer, the young cyclist from Palù di Giovo who tragically lost her life in January while training in the area. This emotional tribute will also shine a light on road safety—one of the key issues the Tour of the Alps is committed to—supported once again by the Michele Scarponi Foundation, a longstanding ally of the event.

On April 22 and 23 in Sterzing/Vipiteno, students from the local Sports High School will take on the role of reporters, interviewing pro riders and gaining hands-on experience in sports journalism. Meanwhile, in Innichen/San Candido, fans will wait for the stage three outcome with live music, entertainment, and a special exhibit of vintage “Eroica” bicycles in Pflegplatz/Piazza del Magistrato.

When #TotA enters Tirol on Thursday, April 24, the spotlight will shine on local hero Felix Gall, one of the top contenders in this edition. A special street artwork will be unveiled in his honor in the Marktplatz of Sillian, accompanied by an exciting performance from freerider Gabriel Widmer.

In Lienz, over 150 children will take part in a full day of activities on and off the bike, celebrating the spirit of the Euregio—a symbol of cross-border unity and the foundation of the Tour of the Alps since its inception.

From April 24 to 26, the final days of the race will also feature the Bike Experience powered by Infront—an exclusive three-day cycling event through Südtirol/Alto Adige and Osttirol.

Two ambassadors of this year’s #TotA, Daniel Oss and Lukas Pöstlberger, will also feature prominently in the side events.

THE FUN GOES VIRTUAL TOO

Even those who can’t join in person from April 21–25 can be part of the #TotA experience—beyond TV broadcasts, they can actively participate themselves.

From Monday, April 21 to June 1, the #LiveUphill Challenge returns on the Rouvy platform. This virtual cycling challenge, in partnership with Endu, allows riders around the world to tackle the final kilometers of each of the five stages at home with their smart trainers. Those who complete all five courses will be eligible to win exclusive Tour of the Alps prizes.

Another major cycling community joins the #TotA family this year: FantaCycling, the popular fantasy cycling app with thousands of fans worldwide. To celebrate the partnership, FantaCycling is launching a free fantasy league dedicated to the Tour of the Alps, offering unique prizes to participants.

FantaCycling will also host daily live shows from the race on YouTube and Twitch, offering a fresh perspective and deepening fan engagement.

“Over the years,” said Giacomo Santini, President of GS Alto Garda, “the regions hosting the Tour of the Alps—especially the stage towns—have truly embraced its values, actively contributing to a unique atmosphere. This local involvement breathes life into our project: a celebration of cycling as a people’s sport, deeply rooted in the community and able to unite landscapes, people, and cultures.”
