Tour of the Alps 2025 showcases Trentino's gems San Lorenzo Dorsino and Mezzolombardo

The 48th Tour of the Alps (April 21-25) kicks off Easter weekend at the ancient village of San Lorenzo Dorsino beneath the Brenta Dolomites, featuring an action-packed eve day and an exciting first stage against the Paganella mountain backdrop. Both San Lorenzo Dorsino and Mezzolombardo in the Rotaliana-Königsberg area welcome #TotA for the first time, with Mezzolombardo hosting stage 2's start

After its presentation in Riva del Garda last November during a prestigious two-day cycling event featuring the annual AIOCC Congress, the Tour of the Alps returns with its proven format for its 48th edition, cementing the euro-regional stage race's position as a key fixture in international cycling.

From April 21 to 25, the peloton tackles the roads of the Euregio Tirol-Südtirol/Alto Adige-Trentino, competing for the leader's green jersey won last year by Spain's Juan Pedro Lopez in an exciting Levico Terme (Trentino) finale.

Following that Valsugana conclusion, the Tour of the Alps returns to Trentino, specifically San Lorenzo Dorsino. This historic village beneath the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosts both the Easter Sunday (April 20th) opening events - including registration and Teams Presentation - and the 143 km opening stage. On Monday, April 21, beneath the Paganella massif, riders follow the renowned "Giro del Brenta" route through Andalo, Val di Non, Val di Sole, climbing Campo Carlo Magno and Passo del Durone, before the final 9km ascent from Comano Terme to San Lorenzo Dorsino.

"For us, sport embodies a broader vision of life and well-being. It's fundamental to the healthy, active lifestyle that thrives in San Lorenzo Dorsino," said Alberto Bosetti, President of the Borgo Vivo Consortium. "The Tour of the Alps' respectful approach to exploring our region perfectly mirrors our values and vision for sustainable tourism."

"The Municipality of San Lorenzo Dorsino is proud to host a stage of the Tour of the Alps. We feel a sense of responsibility, knowing that this new sporting event will bring further prestige to San Lorenzo Dorsino and the entire Paganella area. We are delighted to welcome back top-level road cycling to our town, this time in the men's category, after the Giro Donne in 2022. The Tour of the Alps is another challenge that we will face together to make the finish in San Lorenzo Dorsino a great celebration for our entire community," said Ilaria Rigotti, Mayor of San Lorenzo Dorsino.

The 48th Tour of the Alps offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience Trentino's hidden treasures. Beyond watching world-class cycling up close, guests can explore stunning landscapes from the Adamello Brenta Natural Park to Lake Molveno and the Comano thermal baths. A special 4-day package (April 19-22) includes accommodation, #TotA hospitality access, guided rides, and exclusive gifts.

On Tuesday, April 22, the race departs from Mezzolombardo, a premier wine-producing venue in the Piana Rotaliana Königsberg region. Like San Lorenzo Dorsino, Mezzolombardo debuts as a Tour of the Alps stage host. Stage 2, spanning 178 km, leads into Südtirol/Alto Adige, finishing at Sterzing-Ratschings/Vipiteno-Racines. The route leaves Trentino along the Adige Valley, passing through Roveré della Luna toward Bozen/Bolzano Province.

"The Tour of the Alps delivers both world-class sport and invaluable exposure for host venues," said Daniela Finardi, President of the Rotaliana-Königsberg Tourism Consortium. "Stage 2 starts from Mezzolombardo, the heart of Piana Rotaliana, where commerce meets fine wine. Here, viticulture isn't just tradition but cultural heritage: Teroldego Rotaliano and the surrounding vineyards tell a thousand-year story. For Mezzolombardo, cycling transcends sport, embodying values like passion, perseverance, teamwork, and dedication."

For the tourist region, under Dolomiti Paganella Tourism Board coordination, the Tour of the Alps combines elite sport with regional showcase. Through two hours of live coverage and Infront's international distribution, the Euro-regional event reaches over 100 Countries worldwide.

"Beyond world-class cycling, the Tour of the Alps powerfully showcases our region," explains Luca D'Angelo, Director of Dolomiti Paganella Tourism Board. "Both road and mountain biking serve as strategic tools for destination promotion while kickstarting our tourist season. Sport becomes our storytelling medium, highlighting our landscapes, hospitality culture, and community spirit. Host venues like San Lorenzo Dorsino and Mezzolombardo prove essential, their commitment and enthusiasm driving the event's success and affirming cycling's place in our Alpine identity."
