Tour of the Alps and AIOCC unite World Cycling in Riva del Garda

The two-day gathering at Riva del Garda's Congress Center, featuring the 2025 #TotA route presentation and the world cycling organizers' general assembly, drew exceptional attendance, starting with cycling's highest authorities. Evangelista: "An occasion of extraordinary prestige that confirms the Tour of the Alps' evolution

November 21 and 22, 2024, are set to leave long-lasting memories in the Tour of the Alps organization's history: in addition to revealing, on Thursday night, the 2025 course of the UCI Pro Series stage race through the Tirol-Südtirol/Alto Adige-Trentino Euroregion, the event's organizing company GS Alto Garda also hosted on Friday – for the first time ever in Italy - the annual General Assembly of the AIOCC (the Association of World Cycling Organizers).

The Congress Center in Riva del Garda (Trentino, Italy) welcomed 100 delegates representing 18 Countries in a highly successful meeting, where cycling organizations' delegates joined the sport's highest authorities, including UCI President David Lappartient and UEC President Enrico Della Casa.

As emphasized by many participants and guests, the two-day event organized by the Tour of the Alps in Riva del Garda offered not only prestigious moments and valuable content but also a rare opportunity to forge relationships and find new synergies, even at the highest levels.

"I was very impressed with the Tour of the Alps presentation event, whose attendance was astounding in numbers and quality," said AIOCC President and Tour of the Alps Director Christian Prudhomme. "This race is creating bridges, and that's so important. There's cycling racing, but there's so much more than cycling, and TotA is more than a cycling race."

For AIOCC, it is crucial to gather once a year, as we are all committed to organizing our races, but at the same time we all face the same challenges. Being here with stakeholders such as UCI President David Lappartient, UEC President Enrico Della Casa, and the riders' and teams' associations creates an ideal forum to discuss and share our experiences in our quest for improvement, starting with the safety issue which remains at the core of our discussions."

"I wish to thank the Tour of the Alps for inviting us and providing outstanding organization and professionalism in delivering this event in this lovely location here in Riva del Garda," concluded Prudhomme.

"The feedback we received from these two days leaves us immensely proud and rewards our team's intense effort to deliver an exceptional experience for our guests," said TotA General Manager Maurizio Evangelista. "The scope and level of participation in this two-day event is obviously an encouraging sign for cycling, as it demonstrates the commitment of its different components to work together and share their views for the good and future of our sport. At the same time, for the Tour of the Alps, being able to organize such a prestigious Assembly, for the first time in Italy, and gathering the attention of such a wide and qualified participation for the launch of our course, definitely indicates that we are advancing in the right direction in our quest toward quality and continuous improvement.”

“Thanks to the AIOCC, the Delegates, and all the attending authorities, stakeholders, and media for sharing these days with us, and to our great organizing team for making all of this possible,” added Evangelista.
