Things begin to spice up on the Euregio roads in the second stage: right after the start, a 20-km ascent towards the Passo Rolle awaits the riders, the highest peak of the 2022 Tour of the Alps at 1.984 mt. A long and scenic descent leads to Predazzo and the Val di Fiemme, until meeting the intermediate sprint in Cavalese after 54 km. Afterward, another long, fast downhill leads the race into the Adige valley.
Once in Kaltern/Caldaro, in South Tyrol, a long and challenging climb to the Mendelpass/Passo della Mendola begins, the second KOM of the day, where the first moves by the top favorites might be seen. The following descent takes the race to Fondo, from where the road starts rising again towards the Gampenpass/Passo Palade.
Once over the Gampenpass/Passo Palade, a very fast 18 km slope begins, but once past Lana (without crossing the finish line), the riders will have to complete a loop with the last 3 km rising gently.
