The route for the 5th and final stage is short but tricky, all of it around the city of Lienz. After an easy 30 km, the riders will start climbing towards the Bannberg ascent, from its most challenging side (5,5 km at 10% average gradient).

A steep and twisty descent leads to the start of another tough climb up the Assling, 4km at around 10%. A series of ups and downs and a short downhill take the riders to the intermediate sprint in Anras. Once at the bottom of the valley, the route provides a 15-km breather before another time up the Bannberg climb, this time from the easier side.

A few kilometers of flat terrain lead to the final 25 km loop with the Stronach KOM (3 km with double-digit gradients). From the top, there will be 10 km to the finish line: after a 5-km downhill, four kilometers of flat will provide the run into the last kilometer of the 2022 Tour of the Alps in Lienz, characterized by a small but difficult ascent that leads to the finish line in Lienz Zettersfeldbahn.
